Religious Education (R.E.)
RE Subject Leader: Miss Mazgajczyk
RE Governor: Mrs van Cleak
At Moon’s Moat First School we teach Religious Education (RE) using the Worcestershire Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education.
The principle aim of RE is to engage pupils in systematic enquiry into significant human questions which religion and worldviews address, so that they can develop the understanding and skills needed to appreciate and appraise varied responses to these questions, as well as develop responses of their own.
At Moon’s Moat Nursery and First School, children learn about religions and worldviews in local, national and global contexts through following the Worcestershire Agreed Syllabus. This syllabus is a spiral curriculum approach, which allows children to revisit, develop and build upon knowledge and skills within their year group and key stage. RE has cross curricular links, which enables children to further develop their RE knowledge and skills through close links with PSHE, British Values, English, Art, Music and Maths. Children develop their RE vocabulary through respectful discussions and listen carefully to each others' views.
Children from Nursery to Year 4 also learn about different celebrations and festivals. Please click below to see how Religious Education is incorporated within the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.

Worcestershire Agreed Syllabus
By the time the children leave the school at the end of Year Four, children show respect, have tolerance, acceptance, knowledge and understanding of their own and others’ religious and non religious beliefs. Developing these attributes will have enabled children to develop their ideas, values and identity.
